Haley Tricycles: Assistant Builder

Haley Tricycles is dedicated to creating reasonably priced, durable, efficient and fun cargo tricycles. Our trikes are built for transporting hundreds of pounds of cargo around town, inside a sturdy, lidded, lockable, beautiful box. They are used for personal cargo transport as well as commercial and non-profit use. Haleys are built in Philadelphia, PA.

Job Overview

We are looking for a self-motivated and resourceful assistant builder to join our small production team! We are growing quickly and need assistance converting raw wood and metal tubing to a stylish pedal-powered vehicle.  We are willing to train and help you build experience in an area you have less knowledge. Your schedule can be flexible.

Our shop is in Kensington, at D Street and Ontario, close to the Blue Line’s Allegheny stop.

 General responsibilities include:

·       Light carpentry work

·       Painting wood panels with oil primer and water base paint

·       Basic metal work: grinding, cleaning, filing steel

·       General and/or bicycle assembly

·       General cleaning and shop maintenance

Required Qualifications:

·       Attention to detail

·       Ability to creatively solve problems

·       Willingness to get dirty

·       Comfortable working independently

·       Some experience in craft/construction/production

 Desired Qualifications:

·       Interest in sustainable products

·       Eager to contribute ideas

·       Good eye with color

Hourly rate based on experience.
